Peter A. Fisher
Shepherd Ventures

Peter Fisher is a co-founder and Managing Director of Shepherd Ventures, which invests in small businesses in the Information Technologies and Life Sciences sectors in all areas of San Diego. Peter has broad experience in private equity, operations, advisory, and investment management relating to first and later stage companies and turnaround situations. He specializes in telecommunications infrastructure, software and wireless technologies and applications.

Prior to founding Shepherd Ventures, Peter founded and was CEO of LightSource Ventures, Inc., which provided strategic advisory services to companies in the emerging high technology markets. Formerly, as Managing Partner of Newtel Capital Inc., a private investment and advisory group, Peter directed investments, mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financing and dispositions in telecommunications and other high technology sectors. Prior to that, he co-founded the Canlight Group, a financial services, asset management and securities firm that was acquired by a subsidiary of Dundee Bancorp, a Toronto Stock Exchange listed financial holding company. Previously, Peter served as an investment banker involved in M&A, IPOs, private placements and capital structuring.

Peter has a long history of involvement in community economic development, both locally in San Diego and internationally. He has led the development of schools in impoverished rural areas of his native South Africa as well as actively participated in non-governmental agencies working in developing economies in Africa and Asia. In San Diego, Peter is active in a number of community and business development organizations. Peter holds a degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa.
